Terms & Conditions



Full terms & conditions for In the Cake Mix are detailed below. By making an initial payment it will be deemed that the terms are understood and accepted as applying to your order.


Prices:


All prices are non-negotiable and priced according to your specific design and size of cake.


Payment:


A non-refundable 50% deposit is required in order to secure your order date with In the Cake Mix.


Final payment is due 48 hours before collection. If payment is not received 48 hours before the collection/delivery date, this will be taken as you no longer require the cake, and the order will be cancelled.


Deposits and full payments can be made via bank transfer, PayPal, cash or credit card over the phone. Please ensure you add a reference for your payment of the date your cake is for.


Amendments:


Collection dates cannot usually be changed so please ensure you give the date you would like to collect your cake if this is before the event/birthday.


If you have any requests to change any aspect of your order, please contact me immediately. It may not always be possible to change the design once details have been agreed (for example, if I have already started work or ordered specific items for the original cake design).


Cancellation:


If cancellation of the event takes place, we reserve the right to retain your 50% deposit. If your plans change, we try to be as flexible as possible but as a small business, we will endeavour to transfer your order providing the date is suitable to ourselves, otherwise it shall be treated as a cancellation.


We retain the right to cancel the booking in very unusual circumstances beyond our control, such as fire or ill health, during which we will refund any money taken in full.


Allergens:


Please make sure I am made aware of any allergies upon booking. In the Cake Mix can offer dairy free, gluten free and vegan products and have systems in place when creating these products to avoid risk of cross-contamination. However, our kitchen is NOT an allergy free kitchen so I cannot guarantee our products are entirely free from. Therefore, consumption is at the customer’s own risk.


Cakes:


All cakes will be subject to my interpretation of a design. You can send ideas; however, I am not able to exactly replicate other people’s work. I will always add my own style to the cake.


Tiered cakes contain dowels in each tier to provide support and these should be removed before consumption.


Some cakes are decorated with non-edible items like cake toppers, flowers, skewers. It is your responsibility to remove these and ensure your guests do not consume these.


Cake decorations are very delicate items, and I cannot accept responsibility for damage that is caused to the cake or decoration after it has left my possession.


If any damage is caused to the cake after it has left my possession you can contact me and request a repair. The repair will be costed accordingly including any transport costs if necessary.


Collection/Delivery:


Collection is available for all cakes from my premises. Once I pass the cake over to you, I am no longer responsible for any damage. Please look at my cake care tips to ensure your cake arrives at its destination in the same condition as when you collect it.


Delivery is possible for an additional charge, and only on orders valued at £20.00 or more. Charges are calculated on a mileage and time basis. If I am delivering the cake, I will take responsibility for it arriving in a suitable condition, once the cake has been delivered and exchanged hands, I am no longer liable for any damage. If we are delivering to a venue, we cannot be held responsible for any damage that is rendered to the cake at the venue once we have left the premises. It is with this in mind that we require somebody responsible to check that they are happy with the cake before we leave.


Cake set up (for weddings/events):


It is the customers responsibility to ensure arrangements are made for the cake table, linen, cake stand and knife, which should all be set up prior to our arrival. Alternatively, we will leave the cake with the event manager to assemble/move into position as appropriate.


Cake care:


Travel


When collecting your cake please ensure you transport the cake on a flat surface, either the passenger footwell or boot space. It is recommended that you ensure this area is clear and clean before you arrive to collect your cake.


Please be aware that placing your cake on a seat, legs or uneven surface even for a small journey may affect the stability and internal structure of the cake which could result in irreparable damage. 


On hot days it is recommended to travel with the air conditioning on to keep the environment relatively cool so that the cake does not get too warm.


It is recommended that you go directly to your destination when collect your cake as any lengthy time in the vehicle may cause damage to the cake.


When setting up your cake at the venue please make sure it is not placed in direct sunlight and is consumed within the time suggested.

 

Storage


If your cake is buttercream, please store it in the fridge or somewhere cool until about an hour before you are ready to cut. We recommend consuming cakes within 3-5 days, and for cupcakes 2-3 days.


Fondant covered cakes do not need to be stored in the fridge, just keep them cool and out of direct sunlight.


Insurance:


In the Cake Mix holds Public Liability insurance and fully registered with South Gloucestershire council.


Complaints:


All cakes are baked fresh to order and we do not accept returns.


The cake is a fresh product containing no additives or preservatives and it is our right to assume consumption on the day requested.


In the unlikely event that there is something wrong with your order, it is your responsibility to contact me immediately and within 24 hours of you receiving your order. You will be required to return the cake uneaten for inspection if you wish to claim a replacement or refund. We will not accept liability for any complaints made after this time. Any refund or replacement will be given entirely at our discretion and will be as full and final settlement.


Both parties agree to not post any negative information about the other arising out of the contract on any online forum or website without providing written notice of the intended content thereof and providing the other party with a prior opportunity to resolve any issues between the parties amicably.
